Discover the source of Blue Lagoon Skincare

THE ORIGIN

The Blue Lagoon is a wonder of the world. Its geothermal seawater flows from volcanic aquifers 2000 meters within the earth, emerging at the surface enriched with algae, silica, and minerals.

Decades of Research

The first five products – including Silica Mud Mask and Blue Lagoon Bath Salt – were introduced in 1995.
Initially, the line offered products for treatment purposes as the lagoon had become famous for its healing affects on the skin. In the intervening decades, however, pioneering research enabled the skin care line to evolve into a spectrum of products that cleanse, boost, nourish, and heal.

Environmental Focus

Harvested by way of a zero waste process, Blue Lagoon skin care adheres to the highest mandates of eco-friendly sustainability. Our unique formulas are patented: US 8,795,679 B2 | EP2026759 B1.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

From the beginning, research & development has been one of the driving forces of what we do.

The Blue Lagoon research & development centre is located in the heart of Svartsengi Resource Park and powered with renewable geothermal energy. Blue Lagoon uses green production methods in harvesting the natural and unique Blue Lagoon active ingredients: geothermal seawater, silica, minerals and algae. Scientific work is an important part of what we do. Various studies and researches on the Blue Lagoon, its ecosystem and healing effects, have been published.
